DO-GOODERS DAY: Tuesday, August 2, 1:45 PM Carpool Departure—-Bloomington VEAP  9600 Aldrich Avenue South, Bloomington, MN 55420

VEAP is a basic needs organization whose programs include access to healthy foods, social services, housing stability and supportive services. We will work at the VEAP food shelf from 2:15-5:15. Training is provided. Our commitment to VEAP is the first Tuesday, every other month: August 2, October 4, December 6, February 7. April 4. We will have dinner/Happy Hour at Lucky 13 Pub near Southtown after our service.

A carpool leaves the east side parking lot of the Southtown AMF Bowling Alley at 1:45PM. Please indicate if you plan to carpool or meet us there. If you drive: go around to the west side of the building (overlooking 35W) and park farther back if possible—keep closer rows open for Food Shelf clients. Enter through Door 2 on the west side marked “VEAP Volunteers and Staff.” Wear closed-toed shoes.

Come join this casual Wanderers gathering for conversation and good food. We’ll join a naturalist for an 11-11:45AM tour to learn about the seasonal plants blooming inthis peaceful, 14-acre sanctuary. Founded in 1907, this Garden is the oldest public native plant garden in the United States. More than 500 native plant species grow within the Garden’s woodland, wetland, and prairie habitats. More than 130 resident and migratory bird species travel through or reside within the Garden. Lunch to follow somewhere nearby.

A carpool will leave from the  Hoigard’s parking lot at Miracle Mile Mall at 10:030AM  Please let me know if you plan to be there or will meet us at the garden at 11:00.

Take in the magnificent sights of the lake and sip your favorite beverage (cash bar) while enjoying a beautiful buffet of their most popular appetizers. Since 1973 Al & Alma’s has been offering this perfect way to take in the sites and fantastic history of Lake Minnetonka. The captain and crew share stories of the lake, point out beautiful estates, and navigate the shores, channels, many bays and islands on the lake’s 114 miles of shoreline.  

Boarding begins at 6:15pm; boat departs promptly at 6:30pm and returns to port at 8:30pm.

The Play that Goes Wrong is a new comedy, and recent Broadway hit, being called “the funniest play Broadway has ever seen” (The Huffington Post) and “A Gut-Busting Hit!” (The New York Times).  

This classic murder mystery is chock-full of mishaps and madcap mania and set on opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous.  With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including the lines).

The colors have reached their peak and are fading fast. I hate to think that winter is right around the corner! Always sad to see fall come to an abrupt end. Due to Covid-19 changes, Southdale Mall does not open until 11:00am, so we are unable to move indoors.  We’ll start back up in the spring, or earlier, if Southdale opens earlier.  Stay safe.  We meet us at the “Big Clock” outside of the Hughes Pavilion.  Walk around the lake or as much or as little as your legs allow. GARDEN TOUR: Friday, October 8th, 1:30PM Departure—-Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary 

1940 Glenwood Parkway and Glenwood Ave in Minneapolis 

This is the oldest public wildflower garden in the US.  In 1907, was created as a botany laboratory and is now home to more than 500 plant and 130 bird species.

A carpool will leave the Perkin’s parking lot (50th/#100) at 1:30PM.  Please let Jane know if you plant to meet us there, or at the Garden at 2:00PM
