Come Get Acquainted with The Wanderers
Since 1952, The Wanderers (formerly Edina Newcomers & Friends) has been welcoming women with a variety of daytime, weekend and evening activities.
After all these years our mission still remains to seek out and assist women who wish to establish a social network in a fun, friendly and inviting atmosphere.
If you’re seeking Fun and Friendship, our group of merry-makers is for you.
You’ll meet all kinds of great women: mostly Baby Boomers and Empty Nesters, single and married.
Everyone is welcome! Membership IS NOT restricted to newcomers or residents of Edina!
We’re confident you’ll find plenty of activities within our club to fit your interests and schedule. Check out our monthly newsletter and try us out. You’re always invited to participate in an activity or two before joining. We’re anxious to get to know you!
Our activities include the following, with more being added each month.
Curtain’s Up!: Theater buffs gather for lunch*, Happy Hour or dinner and then take in a fun play, musical or comedy club.
Coffee Breaks: We gather at 10:00AM for coffee at interesting restaurants and locations about town*.
Outdoor Winter Fun: Would you like to cross-country ski or snowshoe? Meet us at Braemar, Hyland Lake Park or Woodlake Nature Center.
The Lunch Bunch: Meet us at 11:30am for lunch. These casual luncheons are held at restaurants throughout the Twin Cities*.
Happy Hour: Join us at a local watering hole for apps and beverages (tee-totalers always included). In the summer we sit outside in our members’ beautiful gardens.
Saturday Suppers: Some of us enjoy cooking. If you’re so inclined join us for dinner every 3rd Saturday night where the guests bring the sides, etc.
Out & About: Get to know The Twin Cities and beyond! Take in museums and points of interest throughout the metro area. A casual lunch or dinner at a nearby restaurant is always an option.
Card Sharks: Every month we gather at a member’s home to play whatever easy game the group wants. There’s usually a side table playing 500.
Books & Booze: The readers among us choose a variety of great books to discuss each year. They meet every other month at 3:15pm for Happy Hour at the Cahill Grille. Teetotalers are always welcome.
Road Trips: Every year we venture to outstate Minnesota, or beyond* for a day trip or even overnights at an AirBnB.
Garden Tours: Visit some of the Twin Cities* most beautiful gardens when they’re at their peak of color.
Winter Walkers: Our walkers circle the MOA during the cold winter months to window shop and treat themselves to lunch afterwards.
Needlecrafters: Meet us every other week. Bring your latest project–whatever the craft– or come to learn.
Flicks & Fun: Take in the latest new movie followed by discussion over Happy Hour
Do-Gooders Day: Every other month we help out at VEAP’s food shelf in Bloomington
Annual Boat Cruise: One of the highlights of our year is an guided tour of Lake Minnetonka
