Boy, these rains have really greened things up, and a the flowering trees and bushes are in bloom ahead of schedule. Get out and enjoy this long-awaited Spring with your Wanderers friends!

ACTIVITIES

GARDEN TOUR: Friday, May 6th, 10:00AM Departure—Landscape Arboretum
“Color Me Spring” at the U of M’s beautiful Landscape Arboretum in Chaska. The Arboretum offers a front-row view as Mother Nature sheds (finally!) her wintry coat and unfolds a tapestry of color that signals the arrival of spring. Experience 37,000 tulips in every color, lilacs, crabapple blossoms, wildflowers, showy lady slipper orchids and more. Best part is that it’s National Public Gardens Day, so everyone gets in FREE!! Optional lunch at the Arboretum café to follow.
A car pool will leave Edina at 10:00AM or meet us at the main building lobby at 10:30.

Join us for an imaginary trip to a French sidewalk café as we sit among the wonderful sights and smells of Bachman’s flowers and plants. Patrick’s has been heralded as one of the top bakeries in town.

NIGHT-TIME BOOK TALK: Monday, May 16th, 7:00PM— Byerly’s Mezzanine
Hazelton and France Ave.
“Plainsong” by Kent Haruf. “From simple elements, Haruf achieves a novel of wisdom and grace – a narrative that builds in strength and feeling until, as in a choral chant, the voices in the book surround, transport, and lift the reader off the ground.”
Beer and wine are available on the mezzanine level and you may purchase snacks from the grocery store. Please to come even if you haven’t read the book. This is our second meeting and we will determine a schedule for future meetings; we are planning on meeting every other month.

AFTERNOON ON THE TOWN: Thursday, May 19th, 10:30AM Departure—Lunch and the Theatre

Let’s do lunch and go to a fabulous play! We’ll start our fun at Eli’s restaurant. Classy yet casual, classic yet fresh, Eli’s has outstanding food in a warm, friendly atmosphere. The ambiance takes one back to the1950’s and the prices won’t break the bank! Voted as a favorite by some of our members. Check out the menu at: http://elisfoodandcocktails.com.
After lunch we’ll head to The Woman’s Club for the 1:30 p.m. performance by “The Marvelous Wonderettes” who will keep you smiling during a trip down memory lane. This off-Broadway hit takes us to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy—four girls with homes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves they serenade us with classic ‘50’s hits. Act two reunites the Wonderetts at their ten-year reunion where we find that no matter what life throws their way, they will conquer it together.
Group rate (for 10+) tickets are $20 (reg. price is $25) and must be paid Friday, May 13th.
